What Are Pierogies
Pierogies are really awesome half-moon shaped dumplings made with unleavened dough that’s stuffed with either a sweet filling or a savory filling. These Eastern Europe staples can be filled with things like meat, potatoes, sauerkraut, lentils, etc. along with sweet treats like cream cheese, curd cheese, etc.
These stuffed dumplings are usually first boiled before being fried and served. The Air Fryer makes it really easy to cut out all that work and extra time by starting with frozen pierogies.
Why Make This Recipe
- Quick and easy – great weeknight dinner or snack as they are ready in less than 15 minutes.
- Really crispy – these crisp up perfectly in the Air fryer.
- Healthier – lower in calories since these are not deep fried.
- Kid-friendly – kids big and small love them!
- Budget Friendly – just grab that affordable pack from the freezer section next time you go shopping.
Ingredient notes
This recipe uses store-bought frozen pierogies (the regular size) that have not been thawed. They have been cooked from frozen (aka straight from the freezer). Mini pierogies would cook for a little less time. Use your favorite brand with your favorite filling.

How To Make These In The Instant Pot
- Spray the Instant Pot insert with a non-stick cooking spray.
- Spray both sides of the Pierogies with olive oil or cooking spray and add them in a single layer.
- Be sure to leave space so the air can get in between them to cook evenly.

Top Tips

- For the best results do not overcrowd the air fryer basket so that the hot air circulates around all sides. Do not stack them.
- The amount of pierogies you can fit in depends on the size of your air fryer basket or tray. Cook in batches if necessary
- For the best results, flip the pierogies about half way through cooking.
- The inside of the pierogies gets quite hot, so let them cool down a little bit before you dig in.
- You may need to cook for a few minutes more if you want them crispier.
