Making frozen garlic bread in air fryer is a great shortcut for busy weeknight dinners, or whenever you got a hankering for a slice or two of this totally crave-worthy side dish.

Keeping frozen garlic bread on hand is a helpful kitchen hack. It’s so versatile and goes with just about everything. I can’t imagine eating pasta or soup and not having a piece of bread to sop up every last drop in the bottom of the plate or bowl.

What I don’t love is waiting for the oven to heat, hoping the butter is soft enough to spread without tearing the bread, and then waiting yet again while the bread crisps. So when I learned how quick and simple it is to make frozen garlic bread in air fryer, I knew there was no going back to the oven method!

With no waiting and no mess, you can take a loaf of ready-made garlic bread straight from the freezer to the table in well under 10 minutes. And air fryer frozen garlic bread really does turn out perfect every single time.

Why Make This Recipe

  • Fast – Go from freezer to table in less time than it would take you to preheat the oven.
  • No Mess – No more half-melted butter and torn bread when you make it from frozen.
  • No Oil – Many air fryer recipes require a spritz of oil, but you don’t need that here!
  • Cook From Frozen – No thawing reqiuired! Go right from the freezer to the air fryer.

Ingredient Notes

  • Frozen Garlic Bread – I prefer a French bread or baguette style frozen loaf, but individual slices or Texas toast work as well.

How To Make Frozen Garlic Bread in Air Fryer

Get the complete ingredients list and instructions from the recipe card below.

  1. Preheat air fryer to 375F / 190C. Cut garlic bread in half lengthwise (making 4 pieces).
  2. Place the buttered side up inside the air fryer basket and cook 5-8 minutes, or until golden brown. Check for doneness halfway through, and adjust time as needed based on your air fryer and the size of the bread.

Pro Tips

  • If the frozen bread is large, you may have to cut it into smaller pieces or cook in batches to air fry the whole bread. Even though it is frozen, it should still be easy to cut with a serrated knife.
  • Don’t overfill the air fryer basket.  Cook in a single layer so the butter melts evenly and the bread doesn’t become soggy.
  • If the garlic bread does not have cheese on it, you can flip it over halfway through cooking
  • Start with the lowest time suggested and increase if needed after checking for doneness.
  • If you prefer crispier bread, add a few minutes to the cooking time.
  • Air fryer temperatures will vary depending on the type and model, so use the cook times listed as a guide and adjust as needed.

How To Cook Different Types of Frozen Garlic Bread

Ready-made frozen garlic bread comes in different shapes and sizes, including;

  • baugette
  • individual slices
  • Texas toast
  • garlic knots

You can easily different types of cook all of these in your air fryer with just a few adjustments.

How Long To Cook Frozen Garlic Bread in Air Fryer

Generally, the air fryer will take about half the amount of standard oven cooking time listed on the package.

I recommend starting out with less time, then check for doneness, and continue cooking in 1-2 minute increments as needed to reach your desired level of crispiness.

Delicious Variations

  • Add Cheese – If you purchase plain garlic bread, you can easily add cheese to the top about halfway through cooking.
  • Add Herbs – Sprinkle the top of the bread with your favorite herbs.
  • Turn It Into Pizza – About halfway through cooking, remove the bread and top with sauce, cheese, and your favorite pizza toppings. Return to the air fryer and cook until the cheese is melted. #sogood
  • Serve With Sauce – Add a side of marinara dipping sauce for a tasty appetizer or snack.

  • Prep Ahead – No prep needed! Go straight from the freezer to the air fryer.
  • Store – Store leftovers in an airtight container inside the fridge up to 4 days.
  • Freeze – Refreezing after cooking frozen garlic bread is not recommended.
