New research published today reveals that more than two thirds of young men in the UK have experienced erectile dysfunction during sex.
The research by Well Pharmacy, the UK’s largest independent pharmacy chain, revealed that more than two in three (68%) of men aged 18-34 reported experiencing erectile dysfunction during sex, compared to 50% of over 65s.
The study further revealed that almost a quarter (24%) of men have concerns that erectile dysfunction will affect their chances of fathering a child, and this almost doubles to 53% for the younger age group.
With medication readily available over the counter, 43% of people said they felt too embarrassed to buy treatment this way, Ifti Khan, Pharmacy Superintendent of Well Pharmacy said: “Erectile dysfunction treatment needn’t be embarrassing.”

Ifti added: “Erectile dysfunction (ED) is right at the top of the list of things that men are least likely to openly discuss, along with mental ill health. In most cases ED is nothing to worry about and anxiety is one of the leading causes for ED. Your first port of call should always be to speak to your local Pharmacist or GP to reassure you that it isn’t a symptom of a bigger health concern.

Research showed that 70% of men are opting to buy treatment online.
