The bank holiday weather forecast for all parts of Wales

Wales has been treated to some great weather in the last few days and on Monday there’s an extra day off work for lots of us to enjoy.

Saturday was sunny across Wales and the Met Office has predicted that for the rest of the bank holiday weekend in Wales there will further good weather, if not quite as sunny as it has been.

Sunday is forecast to be a “dry day with sunny spells”, with a maximum temperature of 23°C. There will be patchy cloud during the afternoon, but the forecast says “it will feel warm under the sunshine”.

Sunday evening will remain dry with “plenty of clear spells” but some rural mist and fog patches will develop. At night, the cloud will thicken resulting in a minimum temperature of 9°C.

However, the Met Office predicts it will be a “cloudy start for many” on Monday morning with those in the west experiencing the “best of the sunshine”. However, all parts of Wales are set to be be cloudy by the afternoon, with bright spells few and far between. The day will generally feel cooler with highs of 20°C.

The change in weather on Monday will set the tone for the rest of the week. Until Thursday it is predicted to be cloudy and dry, with only a few sunny spells, and possibly some chillier nights all across the country.

Weatherman Derek Brockway told his Twitter followers on Saturday that “high pressure will maintain the dry, settled spell into early September”.

Cardiff

Cardiff will see its highest temperature in the next five days on Sunday at 22°C and there will be sunny spells throughout the day. The temperature is due to drop on Monday, with the highest temperature being 20°C, and it’ll be cloudy throughout almost the whole day. The cloudy weather is set to continue throughout the rest of the week, with the highest temperature picking up slightly to 21°C on Thursday.

Swansea

Swansea will also see its highest temperature of 21°C on Sunday and there will be sunshine all day. The highest temperature is set to drop on Monday to 20°C. As for the rest of the five-day forecast, Wednesday is due to have highs of 19°C.

St David’s

St David’s in Pembrokeshire is set to be one of the best places to be over this bank holiday weekend if you’re looking for some sunshine.

On Sunday, there are due to be highs of 18°C and it will be sunny throughout the day. The sunny weather will continue on Monday too, which will also have highs of 18°C, though it will get cloudier by night time. Tuesday will also see sunshine in the morning, but it’s due to be cloudy by the afternoon, and by Thursday the region is set to be cloudy with “sunny intervals”.

Aberystwyth

In Aberystwyth, there will be sunny intervals on Sunday, which will also be the warmest day in the next five days at 21°C. On Monday, the highest temperature is set to drop to 20°C, and the morning sunshine will change to cloud by lunchtime. As the week goes on until Thursday, the weather will become more overcast, with the highs of 19°C during the day on Wednesday.

Newtown

There will be highs of 18°C in Newtown on Monday

In Newtown, there will be sunny intervals on Sunday with the maximum daytime temperature set to be 19°C. Monday will be a cloudy day, dropping to 18°C, and this will continue for the rest of the week, with the possibility of rain during the day on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Wrexham

Wrexham is set to be sunny on Sunday, changing to partly cloudy by night time, with highs of 19°C. Monday will be cloudy, with a chance of rain, however sunny intervals are predicted in the early evening. Tuesday until Thursday is also set to be overcast, with a possibility of rain on all three days.

Holyhead

Holyhead will have a cloudy start on Monday, but there will be lots of sunshine by the evening

Holyhead can expect a cloudy start to Sunday, but there will be sunny spells by lunchtime that will continue throughout the day, with highs of 18°C. A similar trend is predicted for Monday – with lots of sunshine by the evening – however the highest daytime temperature will drop to 17°C. From Tuesday to Thursday, the region can expect cloudy skies, with the possibility of rain on Tuesday and Wednesday.
