Morgan Arcade is offering new, independent businesses a retail unit for one month, free of charge.
New businesses can fill in a form to apply for a free retail space under the arcade’s historic arches. The unit will be offered between October 15 and November 12.
The business to whom the space is offered will also receive “expert support from the team at Morgan Quarter” to help set up their store, as well as promotional and marketing support, according to a blog post from the arcade.
Entries to apply for the unit will close at 5pm on 30 August, and a shortlist will be announced on Morgan Arcade’s social media channels on September 1.
Those wishing to enter can write a pitch for their idea and about their business, or submit a three minute video instead.
A public vote will then follow between in September, and the winner will be announced on September 13.
Morgan Arcade started in 1896, and was built to connect the main entrance of David Morgan’s department store on St Mary’s Street, with his other store on The Hayes. It opened in 1899 as the New Central Arcade.
