A father was found with more than £11,000 worth of cocaine and cannabis in the home he shared with his pregnant wife and daughter. He was also found with mobile phones which contained messages relating to drug dealing.
The home of Matthew Brown, 38, in Tredegar was raided by police on July 20 who found various bags containing drugs. In total they found 65.6g of cocaine worth up to £6,240 and 434g of cannabis worth up to £5,420.
A sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Tuesday also heard £11,970 in cash was found at the house. Brown was arrested and two mobile phones were seized, including a Samsung phone which contained text messages with customers.

Prosecutor Martha Smith-Higgins said messages between July 13, 2021, and July 20 this year proved the defendant had been dealing cocaine and cannabis. In one message exchange Brown was asked by a customer if he was selling "bud" and had sent photos of cannabis. The messages also showed Brown had messaged someone looking to buy a kilo of cannabis worth up to £5,000 and to purchase £5,500 of cocaine.
The defendant was interviewed and claimed the drugs were for his own personal use, admitting he was a regular user of cannabis and a casual user of cocaine. He said he was unemployed but claimed the cash found was from breeding and selling dogs.
Brown, of Pretoria Terrace, Georgetown, later pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply controlled drugs of class A and B, conspiracy to supply controlled drugs of class A and B, and possession of criminal property. The court heard he had a number of previous convictions including drug possession.
David Pinnell said his client had been out of trouble for a long time and had a period of stability in his life, with his wife and children. He said the defendant had proved he could "live a normal life" away from drugs.
Sentencing, Judge Michael Fitton QC said told Brown he was at fault for being separated from his family and the inevitable custodial sentence. He added: "For a period of a year you were dealing in drugs, cocaine and cannabis, and when police searched your home they found a considerable quantity of drugs and cash…. This was a cynical act to make money." Brown was sentenced to a total of four years imprisonment.
